Belarusian cities have begun to assess climate risks and vulnerabilities

Representatives of 16 Belarusian cities took part in a workshop on the impact of climate change on the urban development on 5 and 6 October 2016 in Brest. They’ve learned how to assess risks and found out about opportunities for financial support under the European initiative on energy and climate "Covenant of Mayors”. The event was organized by the IPO "Ecopartnership" and the Brest City Executive Committee.

At the opening ceremony the chairperson of the IPO "Ecopartnership" Yulia Yablonskaia emphasized that the work of cities on reducing greenhouse gas emissions at the local level corresponds to the climate policy of Belarus. A year ago, the city joined the Covenant of Mayors, and is currently developing the necessary documentation - inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and assessment of risks associated with climate change.

How to develop adaptation measures within the Covenant of Mayors on energy and climate, explained the representative of JSC «Technopark Mogilov» Vasiliy Molochkov.
