Capacity-building of ecological NGOs in the Republic of Belarus on participation in the development and implementation of waste management policy

Implementation period:

April 2014 – September 2015

 

Objective:

To facilitate capacity-building of ecological NGOs in the Republic of Belarus on their participation in the planning and implementation of waste management policy.

 

Tasks:

  • to identify legislative, regulatory, administrative, procedural, organizational and behavioral gaps in waste management practice;
  • to develop and implement public participation tools (platforms,  communication bases and procedures) for the dialogue between civilian society organizations, ecological NGOs, ordinary people and government officials, involved in decision-making and responsible for waste management procedure.

 

Major Activities:

  • the development and implementation of public participation tools (platforms, communication bases and procedures) for the dialogue between civilian society organizations, ecological NGOs, ordinary people and government officials, involved in decision-making and responsible for waste management procedure;
  • the arrangement of round tables and information days on waste management policy, response analysis;
  • the establishment of Public Coordination Committee Web-site, containing tools for ensuring public participation in the planning and implementation of waste management policy.
